Garrett Kam

Garrett brings together Hawaiian cultural values, ancestral knowledge, and strategic leadership to guide the institute’s trauma-informed brain health initiatives. A graduate of Kamehameha Schools and a respected cultural practitioner, Garrett ensures that Native Hawaiian worldviews are not only honored but embedded into every layer of B+HARI’s programs, systems, and partnerships.

Garrett was instrumental in the development and delivery of Kumu Ola Hou, a neuroscience-informed housing model that restores wellness and identity through cultural reconnection. As the critical link between the scientific and design teams and the community members served by the program, he helped translate vision into action, ensuring that the final product was as grounded in operational excellence as it was in cultural authenticity. His leadership helped position Kumu Ola Hou as a model for how culturally attuned housing can support healing, dignity, and intergenerational resilience.

Prior to his role at B+HARI, Garrett played a pivotal part in the founding of the Manaola brand, where he helped establish the operational backbone of a culturally driven fashion company rooted in Indigenous design and spiritual tradition. His experience spans logistics, business development, nonprofit leadership, and cultural advocacy in projects that require sensitivity, collaboration, and integrity at the community level.

In October, Garrett will lead cultural programming for the B+HARI Sport Retreat at the Westin Maui, weaving together movement, memory, and Indigenous knowledge to create a healing experience for former athletes recovering from trauma and injury. Across all his work, Garrett remains deeply committed to building systems that are not only effective, but relational so wellness can begin with identity, and where healing grows from place, culture, and a strong sense of community.
